There's loads of different ways to contour so it can be hard to know what method to use. Here are some methods and a few points about each so that you can compare each and decide which one is ideal for you and is best to give you the look you're going for.
Contour Method (1) Cream Contour palette
Cream Contour palettes can be used over your foundation or under it. Using these can give you a really contoured "Kim Kardashian" look. However, sometimes this method can be hard to blend out.

Contour Method (2) Contour sticks
In comparison to the cream contour palettes this is similar but this contour method is usually cheaper. However you do get less shades.
Contour Method (3)Powder Contour
Powder as a contour method isn't as pigmented as the cream palettes or sticks but you can get really pigmented ones and these definitely work best. Contrasting to the other methods, powder is easier to blend out. It's different because you can get a more natural look with it easily. Use the warmer tones first then add in the darker ones for shading.
Contour Method (4) Contour with cutlery
A method that will give you a really precise chiselled contour. Some people have used things like cutlery to achieve this, here are a few tutorials on how to achieve this:
